Stephen Nasse has had victory within his grasp on multiple occasions this season but had been unable to secure the win. On Saturday night, that finally changed. Saturday night Nasse climbed behind the wheel of the Hamke house car for a one-off race in the CARS Tour finale at South Boston Speedway and 125 laps later he climbed out in victory lane.

The race was one of intensity and endurance as it was filled with cautions and carnage. Ultimately it came down to which drivers were able to miss the wrecks and keep cool heads while others laid it all on the line. On the last lap, Nasse found himself in third but coming to the checkered he took advantage of the contact between Jake Crum and Matt Craig and was the first across the line.

“What a race to get the win in,” Nasse said in victory lane. “That was a crazy race and a lot of hard racing with contact but we were able to be there in the end and that’s what got us here.”

Nasse didn’t know if he would have a chance at the win after an incident in the later half of the race resulted in him restarting from the rear of the field.

“It was a hectic race and I honestly didn’t know if we were going to be able to get it done. I though I almost lost it there because I made a couple driver errors. ”

Fortunately for the Pinellas Park, FL driver the top two made contact on the last lap opening the perfect door for Nasse to take the lead and ride home clear to the checkers collecting his first win of the season.

“We were able to get back up front and take advantage of some of the dicey racing that went on and it feels really good and I am excited to be back here in victory lane.”

With the Southern Super Series championship and now the win he had been hunting for on his shoulders, Nasse turns his attention to the biggest races of the season. The next race on the schedule is the Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) in mid-November.

Following the Governor’s Cup, all focus will be on the prestigious Snowball Derby as Nasse and his team return to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida on December 3rd.
