Though the inaugural Speed51 Super Select is still three months away, the Super Late Model drivers that have received their invites for this best of the best shootout are already counting down the days to post time at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

One of the most excited drivers is Florida’s Stephen Nasse, who eagerly accepted his invite after months of waiting and anticipation.

“I’m definitely excited. I was expecting it to come. I’ve been talking with the crew about running that race, and wanting to go to the track. I’ve never been there. It feels good to have the invite. Being invited only makes it a lot more meaningful, being able to go there and hopefully get a win among the best cars and drivers,” Nasse told Speed51.com.

It was his championship performance with the No. 51 Jett Motorsports Super Late Model team over seven nights of racing during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway this past February that earned him a spot in the big dance. The invite adds to what ‘Classy Nasse’ already considers a very meaningful achievement.

“It’s like a double-whammy. We won the World Series, which we had been trying to win since I was about 14 when I started racing at Speedweeks. Along with that championship comes this awesome opportunity. It just makes it all that even better.”

Plenty of work lies ahead for the 51 bunch this September, with Nasse never turning a lap on the famed short track across town from the Brickyard. But it is a challenge he is ready to embrace.

“It will be a little learning curve, but I’m sure we can figure it out. I’ve seen a lot of races there on TV, but I’ve never been on the surface, but I’m excited for this first.”

Despite the three-month wait, Nasse is already making it clear that if he has a shot at the trophy and check in the end, he’s going all-out as usual. Perfect for a race where its $10,000 and winner-take-all.

“That’s for sure. It’s pretty well known that not much is going to hold me back from giving it my all. Whether that comes down to getting a little dirty, who knows? But I don’t mind getting my hands messy.”

Nasse joins Harrison Burton, Brian Campbell, Bubba Pollard, Preston Peltier and Donnie Wilson as drivers who have accepted their invites.

Throughout the 2018 season more drivers will earn invites to the race and have the chance to compete against an all-star field.

The Speed51 Super Select will be hosted by Track Enterprises and sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association (CRA).  A pair of features will be contested that evening, one for the Super Late Models and a 100-lap race for the USAC Silver Crown Series.  The winner of the Super Late Model race will have a chance to win at least $10,000.

There will also be a 50-lap Super Late Model race that will be open to all drivers to compete in.  That race will transfer more drivers into the Super Select field.
